Look for the SPEAKER icon π in the last column this icon indicates the Request is an Audio Request.\
The request list shows: Request #, Case Name, Date Requested, and Status
To open a request:
Click on either the Request # or Case Name
Claim Request
Before you can process an audio request, you must claim it:
Open the request by clicking on it
Navigate to the Share tab
Click the CLAIM button next to your name
The request is now assigned to you
Note: To unclaim a request, return to the Share tab and select "Unclaim"
Export Audio from Liberty DCR
Marshall County uses Liberty DCR format for recordings. For audio requests:
Best Practice for File Size Management:
Export audio-only (not video+audio) to reduce file size
For jury trials or long hearings, always choose audio-only export
Standard hearings can typically include video if under 2GB
Export Steps:
Locate the recording in your Liberty system
Select "Export" option
Choose "Audio Only" for large files
Save the exported file to your computer
Upload Audio Files
Single File Upload:
Navigate to the Content tab (NOT the Downloads tab)
Click "Upload Files"
Select your audio file
Click "Upload"
Multiple File Upload:
The system allows uploading multiple files at once:
Click "Upload Files"
Select multiple files using Ctrl+Click or Shift+Click
All files will upload simultaneously
File Naming Best Practice:
Keep files in their native format - The Liberty DCR recorder automatically names files with appropriate date/time information. Do not rename files as this preserves the recording system's organization and timestamps.
Upload Strategy:
Upload entire day's recordings rather than segments
Include clear descriptions for each file
Audio files are immediately available to customers once uploaded
Bookmarking Segments in TRX Studio
When a customer requests only specific portions of a larger recording, you can bookmark those segments for easier access. This is especially helpful when you have multiple hours of recording but only need to provide a specific hearing or testimony.
β
Why Use Bookmarking?
Saves time when dealing with full-day recordings
Helps customers find exactly what they need
Allows you to mark specific hearings within larger recording files
Example: 8 hours of recording with only a 10-minute hearing needed
Accessing TRX Studio
After uploading your audio file to the Content tab
Click on the hearing date to open it in TRX Studio (the filename will be in Liberty DCR's native format with date/time)
The Studio player will load with your recording
Understanding the Studio Layout
The TRX Studio displays four key time indicators:
Hearing START Time: The beginning of your bookmarked segment
Hearing END Time: The end of your bookmarked segment
Current Playback Time: Where you are in the recording (changes as you play/rewind)
Duration: Total length of the entire uploaded file
Bookmarks
Step 1: Set Start Time
Use the player controls to navigate to where the relevant hearing begins
Triple-click the "Recording START Time" field
The START time automatically updates to match your Current Playback Time
Example: If you're at 8:30:00 AM in the recording, double-clicking START sets it to 8:30:00 AM
Step 2: Set End Time
Play forward to find where the relevant hearing ends
Double-click the "Recording END Time" field
The END time automatically updates to match your Current Playback Time
The system highlights the total length of your selected segment
Step 3: Save the Bookmark
Click the Bookmark icon π
A green header confirms "Bookmark has been added"
The bookmark appears as a black range line in the Studio timeline
Managing Multiple Bookmarks
You can create multiple bookmarks for different segments:
Each bookmark appears as a separate range in the timeline
Bookmarks cannot overlap - the system prevents this automatically
If you need to adjust a bookmark, delete it first then recreate
Removing Bookmarks
To delete an existing bookmark:
Navigate to the Studio and open the recording date
Go to the Workbench page
Find the bookmark you want to remove
Click the trash icon ποΈ next to that bookmark
Confirm deletion if prompted
Best Practices for Marshall County
When to Use Bookmarks:
Customer specifically requests "just the motion hearing" or similar
Multiple cases heard in one recording session
Long jury trials where specific testimony is needed
To separate morning and afternoon sessions
Bookmark Workflow:
Create bookmark with triple-click method
Must publish using 3 line menu β Publish
Verify bookmark appears in Player tab before notifying customer
Include Player tab reference in customer message
Naming Your Bookmarks:
Be specific: "State v. Smith - Opening Arguments"
Include times if helpful: "9:15 AM - Witness Jones Testimony"
Use case numbers when multiple cases: "CR-2024-001234 - Plea Hearing"
Note: This is for bookmark labels within the system, not the audio filenames which should remain in Liberty DCR's native format.
Communicating with Customers
After creating and publishing bookmarks, notify the customer via Messages:
Your audio request has been completed and uploaded. I've created bookmarks for the specific portions you requested: - Motion Hearing: 9:30 AM - 9:45 AM - Witness Testimony: 10:15 AM - 10:55 AM - Judge's Ruling: 11:30 AM - 11:35 AM These bookmarked segments are available in the Player tab. Click on any bookmark to jump directly to that portion. The complete recording is also available if needed.
