Bookmarking / Publishing Case Designations

This article reviews the process of bookmarking / publishing specific segments of hearings in the TRX Player.

Written by Chris Shaw

When a requested hearing is located its possible the entire hearing needs to be published to the Customer. In some cases though, the requested hearing may be contained within a larger hearing

Rather than instructing the Ordering Party where to start listening at a specific time, the TRX Studio has the ability to bookmark / publish only that specified segment. This article covers that process in detail.

Studio Layout Overview

First, lets look at the TRX Studio view and identify a few key items:

In the image above, there are 4 components related to this bookmarking process.

  1. Recording START Time -- This is the start time of the hearing

  2. Recording END Time -- This is the end time of the hearing

  3. Current Player Time -- This is the current time being played, this value will change as the file is played, rewound, etc.

  4. Total Recording Length - Total length of all the content currently loaded

Bookmarking Segment

Once the segment start / end time is identified, we're ready to set the book marks, detailed below:

  • SET START TIME -- Move the Current Player time t to the appropriate start time for the segment. Double click the "Recording START time" field, this will set the START time to the Current Player Time. In the example recording below, the Current player time is 10:10:00am.

Note when the START field is double-clicked, it updates to the CURRENT Player Time.

  • SET END TIME - Similar to the process above to set the start time, move the Current Player time to the appropriate stop time for the segment. Then, double click the "Recording END time" field. This will set the END time to the Current Player Time. In the example below, the Current player time is 10:20:00am.

Once the START Time and END Time have been assigned, the Studio now displays / highlights the total length of the designated segment (10m00s), see below:

  • BOOKMARK SEGMENT - Now the specified portion of the hearing is identified, The Bookmark can be created. Click the Bookmark icon to bookmark the selected segment. see below:

The system will then identify the bookmark as being added in the green header.

The bookmark is also displayed in the Studio as a black range line showing the start and stop time of the Bookmark, see below:

  • PUBLISH SEGMENT - The last step is to PUBLISH the bookmarked segment. Once the bookmark is published, it is available for the Customer to review on the DOWNLOADS tab of the Request.

The customer will be able to access ONLY the bookmarked segment via the Player tab. See screenshot below for example of the Customer view.
